Ecstatic LOST Fans

OK, so

anyone who knows us knows how much we enjoy TV every night (totally UNashamed) and one of our favorites is LOST (so sad it is about to end!!). As our cruise ended we were met by our tour guide who drove us around the entire island of Oahu to see the amazing scenery AND many, many locations where the LOST TV show is filmed. We spent eight hours giddy as we visited so many “familiar” places. The “plane crash beach” is a beautiful, narrow beach that has to have the paved highway covered with sand each time they film there and they trailer in the “crashed fuselage” from storage. The “Others Camp” cabins are actually a YMCA camp and Macky’s shrimp truck actually serves amazing coconut shrimp out of a dilapidated, old van. Where is OSHA?? At Waimea Valley we posed in front of “Kate and Sawyer’s waterfall”. Visiting the Byodo-In Temple where Jin and Sun were married was a truly lovely sight; it is a replica of a 900 year old temple of the same name near Kyoto, Japan. Inside is a nine foot tall Lotus Buddha that is painted in black lacquer and decorated with gold leaf. Our very favorite was the “survivors camp/beach” which was a fifteen minute beach hike in calf deep sand. There was an orange mesh fence up and guards in a pickup way in the back since they were not filming that Sunday, but we could see the survivor huts made of crashed plane parts, their campfire and even “Sawyer’s Chair”! Phenomenal beach and “Sawyer’s Chair”!!!!! We also saw the submarine dock, the plane crash trees and even the Mental Institution where Hurley saw Charlie’s ghost (it’s really a Community College). The scenery around the island was breathtaking: lush green mountains with sawtooth-topped peaks as a backdrop for the aquamarine waters of the ocean. The ONLY thing missing was catching a glimpse of Jack or Sawyer. MA
